
The President of the Republic appointed on 9 February Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Harri Mäki-Reinikka as Head of the Embassy of Finland in Vilnius, Lithuania, from 1 January 2013.
Mäki-Reinikka will move to Vilnius from Damascus, Syria, where he has served as the Ambassador of Finland to Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan since 2008. He joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1986 and has served in the Political Department, Department for External Economic Relations, and Administrative Department as well as in the Division for Europe. Mäki-Reinikka has also served as Director of the Secretariat for Nordic Cooperation and deputised the Minister for Nordic Cooperation.
In the Diplomatic Service, Mäki-Reinikka has served in Paris, Alger and London. In the Permanent Mission of Finland in Geneva, Mäki-Reinikka served as Minister-Counsellor from 2000 to 2005.
